Off-Roading Essentials (Part 1)

At Propshaft Repairs we love being able to see a job well done. It’s great knowing that we can give your vehicle a new lease on life through our mending of propshafts or sorting your pump drives… however, if there’s one thing we love more, it’s seeing the vehicle being used to its full potential! It may mean that your car suffers a bit of a dink, particularly if you’re offroading, but sometimes that’s part of the fun, right?

Well, when undertaking your offroading there are some essentials that you really shouldn’t tackle it without, so check out our handy list to set you up for an awesome time out offroading:

Petrol Pump

Fuel!

OK, this is obvious, but you’d be surprised at the number of stories we hear of people getting stranded; we’re sure you’ve found yourself low on a motorway before. It’s a good habit to get into, checking that you’ve always got enough petrol, so make sure you take this into consideration before you go offroad, because there aren’t many service stations out there.

First Aid

No, we’re not being pessimistic… there are just some risks that you take with offroading, and getting the odd bump can be one of them. Don’t just anticipate you’ll only need a bandage, make sure you take enough with you to tackle any more serious injury; should the moment come, you’ll be glad you did!

Spare Tyre and Winch

These are essentially your vehicle’s first aid. Not taking a spare tyre is just asking for trouble! You know full well that the time you don’t take one with you will be the time you need it, so don’t make that mistake. It’s a pretty full on activity, so give your car the tools to tackle it. Equally, a spare tyre would be useless without a winch, so make sure you take one of these useful little guys out with you.

There is an element of common sense when it comes to keeping your vehicle stocked up for offroading, so it’s best to consider the worst case scenarios to make sure you’re fully equipped; failing that, stay tuned for part 2!

One of the worst case scenarios is of course that your car will take a bit of a knock or suffer some propshaft damage, so if you’re unlucky enough for this to happen, don’t hesitate to get in touch. You can contact us on 01524 382262, and our friendly team of specialists will get you back out offroading again in no time!
